This was the >SMART> GREEN Startup Night 2022

On September 27th, we celebrated our big >SMART> GREEN Startup Night with great startups from our programs and the brilliant award ceremony of the MakeItMatter Award. In front of around 140 guests, the following startups presented to us the social and environmental impact they are making with innovative products and demonstrated the positive change that is possible in the world with marketable environmental innovations

  • PROSERVATION: Biodegradable packaging materials made from grain husks
  • Goodbalancer: Comprehensive sustainability reporting and management in community-based organisations
  • Wendeware: Energy management software with Fraunhofer background
  • WEtell: Sustainable mobile communications in a value-driven, responsibly-owned company

Innovation for the energy transition is particularly tangible with this year’s winning startups for the MakeItMatter Award and, with two of the three teams, also directly applicable for everyone in the audience. Together with Elektrizitätswerke Schönau, we award pioneers of the energy transition and celebrate their contribution to a rapid transition to a climate-neutral future.

The celebration was accompanied by confetti cannons and thunderous applause, and we congratulate them once again on their award:

  • Prize with € 16.000 for PV2+: Substitution of silver by copper in high-efficiency solar cells
  • Prize with € 13.000 for RABOT CHARGE: Intelligent electricity tariffs for e-mobility and private households
  • Prize with € 11.000 for WeDoSolar: Smart balcony solar system for the power socket

We are happy about all the people from the Freiburg ecosystem and beyond, all the interested and motivated people with whom we could spend a wonderful evening.

Well supplied with drinks from our wonderful Bookings team and delicious pizza from Café Ruef, we were able to spend the evening with all our guests, celebrating many familiar connections and making new contacts. Our hearts are already jumping with anticipation to see and experience you all again soon!
